The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725850 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT 09 T3 04-MM 2025 geometry, designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (ISO shape code C), a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch corner radius. With a clearance angle of 11 degrees and the MM chip breaker geometry, it is engineered for use on stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators specify this insert for applications where edge stability and chip control are priorities.
This insert belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series, which is designed for external and internal turning with screw-clamped toolholders. The MM chip breaker geometry targets medium machining conditions, particularly on austenitic and duplex stainless steel (ISO material group M). It is suited to light-to-medium depth-of-cut passes where controlled chip evacuation reduces the risk of built-up edge and workpiece surface damage. The neutral hand configuration makes it compatible with standard CPMT-style toolholder pockets without handedness restrictions.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-clamped turning toolholders within the CoroTurn 111 system. ISO designation CPMT 09 T3 04-MM 2025. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material group M). Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the insert size code 32.51 before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC toolsetter using the appropriate screw-clamp torque driver specified for the CoroTurn 111 toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the grade and chip breaker combination, as thermal overload will accelerate coating failure. Inspect the toolholder pocket for damage or debris before seating the insert to ensure correct clamping and runout.
