The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725320 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert in the T-Max P series, engineered for productive turning on stainless steel and other M-group workpiece materials. It carries manufacturer grade 2025 with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering thermal resistance and wear protection at the cutting edge. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and an MM chip breaker geometry suited to medium machining conditions. With a 5/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it fits standard CNMG 16 06 08 toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC turning operators select this insert for its consistent edge performance on challenging alloys.
This insert is designed for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where CNMG 16 06 08 toolholders are mounted. Its primary application is turning stainless steel, consistent with ISO workpiece material code M. The MM chip breaker geometry supports medium depths of cut and feed rates, making it appropriate for roughing-to-finishing transitions on austenitic and duplex stainless grades. The clamp-and-pin holding method suits a wide range of standard CNMG toolholder bodies in both external and some internal turning configurations.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Confirm the insert seats fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamp and pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris that could affect seating and edge runout before each index.
