The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725035 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the T-Max P series, this insert is manufactured from solid carbide and carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. With a neutral hand orientation, an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 5/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64 inch corner radius, this insert is built for general turning and finishing applications. Four cutting edges are available per insert, maximizing tool economy. It is installed and managed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
The 5725035 is primarily applied in turning operations where the workpiece material is cast iron. The CNMG geometry with KM chip breaker is suited for medium to finishing depth-of-cut passes on ferrous materials. The T-Max P series is a widely recognized platform for external and internal turning, profiling, and facing. This insert is appropriate for both production environments and job shop settings where consistent surface finish and dimensional control on cast iron components are required.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 5/8 inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or pin retention. ISO code CNMG 16 06 12-KM 3210. Compatible with T-Max P series tooling systems. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Indexable turning inserts of this type are installed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamping screw or pin; do not overtighten when seating the new insert, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and accurate tool-nose positioning.
