The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725006 is a CNMG-style turning insert in the T-Max P series, engineered for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, making it well suited for demanding cutting applications where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, an 80-degree diamond shape, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers cost-effective tooling life in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users.
This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, consistent with its M-grade primary workpiece material classification. The MR chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage chip flow in medium cutting conditions. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder model in use — do not overtighten or use improvised tools. Inspect the insert seat and chip breaker geometry before resuming cutting operations to confirm proper orientation.
