This insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate, delivering grade 2025 wear resistance and thermal barrier performance. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, and the MR chip breaker is engineered to manage chip flow in demanding cutting conditions. At 0.5874 inches in length with a 5/8-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for medium to roughing passes. This insert is primarily specified for machining stainless steel, corresponding to ISO workpiece material code M. The CNMG insert style, neutral hand orientation, and four available cutting edges make it a practical choice for high-volume turning operations where insert economy matters. It is held in place using a clamp and pin method, compatible with standard CNMG toolholders used in both manual and CNC turning setups. The MR chip breaker geometry targets stainless steel chip control, reducing built-up edge and improving surface finish on tough austenitic and martensitic grades.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert retention. ISO code CNMG 16 06 12-MR 2025 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems. Primary application is stainless steel workpiece material (ISO code M).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout state. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seat for debris or wear before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specification when securing the clamp screw. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as premature failure can result in workpiece damage or machine hazard.
