The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724876 is a CCGT-style diamond-shape turning insert engineered for precision finishing and semi-finishing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, it features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, delivering high wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert carries manufacturer grade 1125, a neutral hand orientation, and a UM chip breaker geometry optimized for light to medium chip control. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius, it is suited to tight-tolerance turning applications where surface finish is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC turning center operators are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for use in CoroTurn 107 screw-clamp toolholders that accept CCGT geometry inserts. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with stainless steel as the secondary workpiece material (ISO code M). Typical applications include external and internal turning on CNC lathes where consistent chip formation and dimensional accuracy are required. The UM chip breaker performs well at light depths of cut and lower feed rates, making it appropriate for finishing passes on close-tolerance shaft and bore features. ISO designation for this insert is CCGT 09 T3 08-UM 1125.

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer; do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge location and clamping force.
