The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724829 is a CNMG432-QM 2015 indexable turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting conditions. The QM chip breaker geometry and 80-degree diamond shape provide strong cutting edges suited for medium to finishing passes. With 4 usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it suits a wide range of toolholder configurations. This insert is used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is optimized for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M), where controlled chip formation and edge toughness are critical. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with Sandvik Coromant T-Max P toolholder systems. It fits applications requiring a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch insert thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Typical use cases include profiling and turning of austenitic and duplex stainless components in aerospace, medical device, oil and gas, and general manufacturing applications.
Designed for use with Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series toolholders that accept CNMG 432 inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. Compatible toolholders require a 1/2-inch inscribed circle seat and clearance code N with tolerance code M.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and in a safe state. Seat the insert firmly in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw or pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to prevent insert rocking and premature failure. Index or replace the insert at the first signs of chipping, built-up edge, or surface finish degradation on the workpiece.
