The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724505 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0313 inches). The insert is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and light interrupted cuts. With a wiper edge geometry and WF chip breaker, it produces tighter surface finishes while managing chip evacuation at higher feed rates. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this insert fits screw-lock toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts.
The 5724505 is rated primarily for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M), making it well-suited for general turning, facing, and profiling operations in production and job-shop environments. The WF chip breaker geometry supports light-to-medium finishing passes where consistent chip control and surface quality are priorities. The insert measures 0.3493 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle (0.3750 inches) and a thickness of 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches), fitting standard CCMT toolholder pockets designed for that insert size code.
Designed for use in screw-lock CCMT toolholders with a pocket matching insert size code 32.52. ISO designation CCMT 09 T3 08-WF 1125. Fits CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting CCMT inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and repeatability.
