The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724452 is a CNMG432-WF 1115 grade turning insert engineered for precision external turning operations on stainless steel and other ISO M-class workpiece materials. This solid carbide insert carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong oxidation resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The WF chip breaker geometry promotes effective chip control during medium-duty turning passes. With four usable cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand designation, this insert fits a wide range of standard CNMG toolholders used by machinists and CNC turning specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel components in both light and medium material removal applications. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry balanced against versatile approach angle options. The T-Max P series designation identifies compatibility with Sandvik Coromant's T-Max P toolholder platform, commonly found on CNC lathes in precision machining operations. The Neutral hand orientation allows use in both right- and left-hand toolholder setups without modification.
Designed for use with CNMG-style toolholders in the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series platform. ISO code CNMG 12 04 08-WF 1115. Compatible with clamp and pin insert holding methods. Verify toolholder seating and shim condition before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a de-energized and locked-out state per facility LOTO procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and Sandvik Coromant-recommended clamping hardware for the specific toolholder; do not over-torque the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
