The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724422 is a CNMG432-WF 3005 indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating over a solid carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (shape code C) delivers a strong cutting edge suited to general turning and finishing passes. With an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch), this insert is engineered for consistent dimensional accuracy and extended tool life in production environments.
This insert is used in external and internal turning applications on conventional and CNC turning centers. The WF chip breaker geometry is suited to finishing and light roughing operations on steel, stainless, and similar materials. The CNMG style with clamp and pin holding method makes it compatible with standard CNMG toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance departments commonly specify this grade for high-volume or precision turning work. The ISO code is CNMG 12 04 08-WF 3005.
Designed for use with standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin holding. ISO designation CNMG 12 04 08-WF 3005 can be used to confirm cross-reference and toolholder fit. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; package quantity is 1.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware to seat the insert correctly in the toolholder pocket — do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to avoid micro-fracturing the cutting edge.
