The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724415 is a CNMG432-WF 1525 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with TiCN and TiN via a PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and edge toughness suited to steel and stainless steel workpieces. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the WF chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation in finishing and light roughing passes. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it fits standard CNMG toolholders and offers four usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for turning operations where surface finish and dimensional consistency are priorities. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel. It is commonly installed in production turning environments by machinists and CNC operators running T-Max P series toolholding systems. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right- and left-hand cutting directions depending on toolholder configuration. ISO code CNMG 12 04 08-WF 1525 identifies this insert in metric-referenced tooling catalogs. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on ferrous materials.
Designed for use with CNMG-style toolholders in the T-Max P series. ISO designation CNMG 12 04 08-WF 1525 applies. Suitable for turning steel (ISO material group P) and stainless steel (ISO material group M). Holding method requires a clamp- and pin-style toolholder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping to prevent seating errors that affect dimensional accuracy. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate.
