The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724086 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert engineered for precision external and internal turning operations. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, it carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process over a solid carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability on demanding cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.3729-inch insert length, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes on steel and stainless steel. Installation is performed by licensed machinists or toolroom technicians as a direct screw-held replacement in compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders.
This insert is suited for finish turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece material designation is Steel (ISO code P), with a secondary designation of Stainless Steel (ISO code M). The MF chip breaker targets light to medium depths of cut where controlled chip formation and surface finish quality are the priority. The ISO designation for this insert is CCMT 09 T3 02-MF 1105, which can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder bores and clamp assemblies.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting CCMT insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. ISO designation CCMT 09 T3 02-MF 1105 should be used to confirm holder and seat compatibility before installation.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure when securing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Never force the insert into the pocket; improper seating can cause insert fracture and workpiece damage.
