The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724033 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the manufacturer grade 1125 with a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers hard, wear-resistant cutting edges suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong nose geometry, while the UF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at light to moderate depths of cut. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this insert as part of the CoroTurn 107 tooling system.
This insert is primarily rated for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M). The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method make it compatible with standard CoroTurn 107 toolholders designed for CCMT-style inserts. It is well suited for finishing operations where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The UF chip breaker is optimized for lighter feeds and smaller depths of cut, making it a common choice for tight-tolerance turning of steel and stainless components in precision machining environments.
Designed for use in the CoroTurn 107 tooling system with toolholders configured for CCMT-style screw-held inserts. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO code P); secondary compatibility is stainless steel (ISO code M).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect edge height and surface finish.
