The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724015 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal machining applications. Built to the CoroDrill 880 series platform, this drill accepts two indexable inserts in the A880..LXxx-03 drill style and delivers a maximum drill depth of 4.29 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The tool body is constructed of steel and features through-coolant capability to manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone. With a maximum drill diameter of 1.4152 inches (34.92 mm) and a 1.5-inch straight cylindrical shank, it is sized for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses with compatible toolholders. Right-hand cutting direction is standard.
This indexable insert drill is suited for production machining environments where repeatable hole quality and fast insert changeover are priorities. Typical applications include drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials on horizontal and vertical machining centers. The 3xD depth ratio and 5.0992-inch flute length support stable chip control across the full drilling depth. Shops running high-volume part programs benefit from the insert-indexed design, which eliminates regrinding and allows quick cutting-edge replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle.
Compatible with drill inserts conforming to the A880..LXxx-03 drill style with an insert size of 0.1378 inches (3.50 mm). Designed for use in machining center spindles and toolholders accepting a 1.5-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before loading or removing the drill body or inserts. Verify toolholder runout and clamping torque per the machine and toolholder manufacturer specifications before cutting. Confirm coolant-through lines are clear and pressure is appropriate for the application before initiating a drilling cycle.
