The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723933 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG431-QM H13A configuration, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The uncoated H13A carbide grade provides consistent performance without a surface coating, and the QM chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow in demanding cutting conditions. This insert is part of the Sandvik T-Max P series and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in precision machining environments.
This insert is intended for turning applications on primary workpiece materials classified as steel (ISO P) and secondary materials including stainless steel (ISO M). Typical install scenarios include production turning on CNC lathes where consistent insert geometry and chip control are required. The T-Max P series is a well-established platform for external turning, profiling, and facing operations across a range of material hardnesses. Four cutting edges per insert are available, improving cost-per-edge efficiency in high-volume machining.
Designed as a direct replacement insert for CNMG431-QM H13A toolholder systems. Compatible with standard CNMG-style toolholders using clamp and pin insert holding methods. ISO code CNMG 12 04 04-QM H13A confirms fitment with holders dimensioned for that designation.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and all spindle motion fully stopped. Use appropriate insert seating tools and verify the clamp and pin holding mechanism is fully engaged before resuming cuts. Refer to the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for clamp screws. Machining professionals should observe applicable shop safety standards when handling carbide inserts due to sharp cutting edges.
