The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723833 is a steel-bodied indexable insert drill designed for deep-hole drilling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built to the CoroDrill 880 series standard, it accepts two indexable inserts in the A880..LXxx-05 drill style and delivers a maximum drill depth of 5.15 inches at a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1-inch straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard toolholders, and right-hand cutting direction suits conventional CNC machining center setups. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding cut conditions. This drill is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working on production or job-shop CNC equipment.
The 5723833 is suited to ferrous and non-ferrous metal drilling on vertical and horizontal machining centers where a 1-inch nominal drill diameter and 5xD reach are required. Its straight shank makes it compatible with ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 1-inch shanks. The coolant-through design is particularly useful in interrupted cuts and stacked-plate drilling where chip packing is a concern. With a flute length of 5.7343 inches, the tool provides adequate clearance for full-depth passes without secondary clearing cycles.
Designed for use with A880..LXxx-05 compatible indexable drill inserts. Fits standard 1-inch straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Verify toolholder bore size and runout before seating the shank, and confirm insert torque to the insert manufacturer specification using a calibrated torque wrench. Enable coolant-through supply before initiating the drilling cycle to ensure proper chip evacuation from the first pass. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder retention and insert handling.
