The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723823 is a steel-body indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built to the CoroDrill 880 series platform, it accepts two indexable inserts in the A880..LXxx-03 drill style and delivers a maximum drill depth of 3.15 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1 inch in diameter, and the tool is configured for right-hand cutting. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during deep-hole operations. Machinists and tooling specialists working with CNC machining centers install and qualify this drill as part of a tooling assembly.
This drill is suited for production drilling operations in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials on CNC turning centers and vertical or horizontal machining centers. The 3xD depth ratio targets through-hole and blind-hole applications where a short, rigid drill body reduces deflection and maintains positional accuracy. The 1-inch bore diameter and straight shank allow direct mounting in standard toolholders with matching bore size. Two insert seats allow independent replacement of the center and periphery inserts, minimizing tooling cost per hole.
Compatible with the A880..LXxx-03 drill style insert system. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct fitment drill body for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroDrill 880 series indexable inserts sized at 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before mounting, confirm the toolholder bore matches the 1-inch shank diameter and that the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and verify insert seating and torque per the insert manufacturer guidelines before engaging the spindle. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and that machine coolant pressure is within the range specified for the toolholder and machine spindle before initiating a cut.
