The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723678 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill built for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. Designed around the CoroDrill 880 platform, it accepts two indexable inserts in the A880..LXxx-03 drill style and delivers a maximum drill depth of 2.385 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The body is constructed from steel and features through-coolant capability, which supports chip evacuation and extends insert life during demanding cuts. This drill is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC lathes, machining centers, and similar equipment where repeatable hole quality is required.
This indexable insert drill is suited for production drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on both vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 3/4-inch maximum drill diameter and straight cylindrical shank measuring 1 inch in diameter make it compatible with standard tool holders and collet-style clamping systems. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The 3xD depth ratio positions this tool for general-purpose drilling where hole depth does not exceed approximately three times the drill diameter. It is a practical choice for high-volume production cells where insert replacement between cycles is preferred over regrinding solid carbide tools.
Compatible with A880..LXxx-03 drill style inserts with an insert size of 0.1024 inches (2.60 mm). Designed as a CoroDrill 880 series body accepting two inserts in the standard indexable configuration for this platform.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holding system is de-energized before mounting or removing the drill body. Confirm the shank is fully seated and clamping torque on the toolholder meets the machine manufacturer specifications before operation. Through-coolant passages should be checked for obstruction before first use, and inserts must be properly indexed and secured per the insert manufacturer torque guidelines.
