The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723663 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under manufacturer grade 3005, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during steel and cast iron machining. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a corner radius of 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch). With two cutting edges and a WF chip breaker geometry, it is suited to light-to-medium finishing passes. Licensed CCMT toolholders and qualified CNC machinists are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K) in CNC lathes and turning centers. The WF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where controlled chip formation and surface finish consistency are priorities. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard CCMT-style toolholders. It fits the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series and carries the ISO designation CCMT 06 02 04-WF 3005. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on ferrous workpieces in both production and jobshop environments.
This insert is designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders within the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series, compatible with CNC lathe and turning center applications targeting steel and cast iron workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to ensure proper seating without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation, as an unclean pocket will affect insert positioning and surface finish results.
