The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723654 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Featuring a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating over a carbide substrate, this insert is engineered for cutting steel and stainless steel with controlled chip formation. The WF chip breaker geometry promotes tight, manageable chips in finishing and light roughing passes. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides two usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life between index cycles. This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing turning of steel workpieces, with secondary capability on stainless steel. The CoroTurn 107 series is commonly used on external longitudinal turning and profiling operations where predictable chip control and surface finish are priorities. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw-in holding method make it compatible with standard CoroTurn 107 toolholders designed for CCMT insert geometry. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right- and left-hand cutting directions depending on the toolholder configuration.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw-in holding method. ISO designation CCMT 06 02 04-WF 1525. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece material is stainless steel.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
