The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723585 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT format, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 3/8-inch (0.3750-inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The insert carries a bright, uncoated finish in grade 5015 and is designed for neutral-hand operation. With a PF chip breaker geometry and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert is suited for general turning applications where controlled chip formation and a secure screw-clamping hold are required. This insert is primarily designed for turning steel, with a secondary application in cast iron. The PF chip breaker geometry supports finishing and light roughing passes. It fits toolholders using the CCMT 09 T3 08 insert pocket configuration and is held in place via screw-clamping. Typical installations include CNC lathes and manual turning centers where consistent chip control and repeatable edge life on ferrous materials are the priority. The insert hand is neutral, allowing use in a range of toolholder orientations.
This insert is compatible with CCMT 09 T3 08 toolholder pockets. It is designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting CCMT-format inserts. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO Code P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO Code K). ISO designation is CCMT 09 T3 08-PF 5015.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped before any toolholder service. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the recommended engagement - do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine-specific lockout/tagout protocols before performing tooling changes.
