The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723498 is a CoroDrill 880 series indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built on a steel body with a straight cylindrical shank, this drill accepts two indexable inserts and is compatible with the A880..LXxx-03 drill style. It delivers a maximum drill diameter of 0.5197 inches (12.70 mm) and a maximum drill depth of 1.6 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The flute length measures 1.8843 inches (47.86 mm). Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and insert life in demanding materials. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. This tool is handled by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 5723498 is suited for production drilling on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling machines where indexable insert tooling is preferred over solid carbide drills. The 3xD ratio positions it for general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole work in steel, cast iron, and similar materials. Its 0.75 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER, hydraulic, or shrink-fit toolholders sized for that shank diameter. The A880..LXxx-03 insert compatibility provides flexibility when sourcing replacement inserts across the CoroDrill 880 platform.
Compatible with A880..LXxx-03 drill style inserts. Designed for use in standard toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch straight cylindrical shank. Insert size 0.0866 inches (2.20 mm) applies when sourcing replacement cutting inserts.
Installation and tooling changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before use. Inspect inserts for wear or chipping before each run and replace as a matched set when possible to maintain balance and hole quality. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and that coolant pressure is within the machine spindle specification before engaging the tool.
