The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723469 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the CoroTurn 107 series specification, this insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear performance suited to cast iron and similar K-class workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C), a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The KR chip breaker geometry and manufacturer grade 3210 combination targets stable cutting conditions in medium to roughing applications. The insert mounts with a screw-clamping holding method, offering rigid tool engagement.
This insert is intended for use in screw-clamped toolholders compatible with CCMT-style inserts within the CoroTurn 107 platform. Primary workpiece material classification is K-class, making it well suited for gray cast iron, nodular cast iron, and similar materials commonly encountered in automotive, pump, and valve component machining. The neutral hand orientation supports use on standard right- or left-hand turning operations without additional handedness considerations. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making this suitable for shop-floor replenishment in production turning environments. Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders accepting CCMT 12 04 08 inserts (ISO code CCMT 12 04 08-KR 3210). Verify toolholder pocket geometry, insert size code 432, and clearance code C before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamping screw, and confirm there is no rocking or gap at the seating surfaces. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the screw size used. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for chips or cracks before each use.
