The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723330 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Carrying the ISO designation CCMT 09 T3 02-WF 5015, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a 0.2 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius, a wiper edge geometry, and the WF chip breaker for reliable chip control in finishing and light roughing cuts. The uncoated 5015 carbide grade is optimized for steel and cast iron workpieces. With a screw-on holding method and a neutral hand orientation, it fits a wide range of standard CCMT-style toolholders used daily in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning operations where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The WF chip breaker geometry performs best in finishing passes on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. The neutral insert hand makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production machining, maintenance turning, or prototype work will find this insert a practical fit for moderate-to-light depths of cut and feed rates typical of finishing applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT 09 T3 02 style toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 series. Confirmed compatible with screw-on CCMT toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 4.40 mm hole diameter.
Turning inserts in the CCMT family are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value - do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full contact and accurate tool-nose radius positioning.
