The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723197 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CCGX 12 04 08-AL H10 ISO designation, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) with a neutral hand orientation and a 7-degree relief angle (Clearance Code C). The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches (12.70 mm), the insert length is 0.4762 inches (12.10 mm), and the insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm). The corner radius is 0.0313 inches (0.79 mm). The AL chip breaker geometry and H10 carbide grade are optimized for cutting non-ferrous metals, making this insert a reliable choice for aluminum and similar workpiece materials in production turning applications.

Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before handling cutting inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Handle carbide inserts with care, as the cutting edges are brittle and can chip if contacted with hard surfaces.
