The SANDVIK COROMANT 5722869 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill built for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Part of the CoroMill 490 series, this tool features a 1-inch cutting diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 5.5 mm (0.2165 inches). It uses three 490R-08T308 inserts secured by screw clamping and is machined from steel. The 1-inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive drive and resists pullout under load. Through-coolant capability allows direct delivery of coolant to the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation during high-speed operations.
This end mill is suited for square-shoulder milling, slotting, and face milling operations on machining centers in production and job-shop environments. The 90-degree lead angle produces true square shoulders and vertical walls in a single pass. With a maximum spindle speed of 40,000 RPM, it supports high-speed machining strategies. The 3.75-inch overall length and 2.5-inch shank length make it compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking will find this tool applicable to a wide range of milling tasks.
Designed for use with 490R-08T308 indexable inserts. ISO designation A490-025M25-08M. Compatible with standard 1-inch Weldon Flat toolholders used on CNC machining centers capable of accepting the CoroMill 490 insert platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in a safe state before mounting or changing the tool. Use a properly sized Weldon Flat toolholder and tighten the setscrews to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect insert seating and screw torque before initiating any cutting cycle; loose inserts under load present a serious safety hazard.
