The RWC UIP4008A is a 1/2-inch CTS x PVC brass push-to-connect transition coupling from the SharkBite product line. It is designed to transition from iron pipe size PVC pipe to copper tube size copper, PEX, CPVC, or PE-RT tubing without soldering, glue, unions, or special tools. The white collar accommodates Schedule 40, 80, and 120 PVC pipe as well as Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 CPVC. The SharkBite connector end accepts PEX, CPVC, or PE-RT. A disconnect clip is included, allowing the fitting to be released from the pipe when installation flexibility is needed. The fitting can also be rotated on the pipe after installation, which is useful when working in confined spaces.
This coupling is suited for potable water distribution systems in both residential and light commercial plumbing applications. The corrosion-resistant brass construction supports long service life in demanding environments. It is certified for underground installations and behind-the-wall applications where access panels are not present, making it appropriate for new construction as well as renovation and repair work. Licensed plumbers and experienced pipefitters will find this fitting useful when connecting dissimilar pipe materials during system upgrades or extensions.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch CTS copper, PEX, CPVC, and PE-RT tubing on one end and iron pipe size Schedule 40, 80, or 120 PVC or Schedule 40 and 80 CPVC on the other end. Suitable for potable water distribution systems meeting UPC, IPC, and cUPC requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes referencing IPC or UPC standards. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before installing or removing the fitting. Pipe ends must be cut cleanly and squarely and deburred before insertion to ensure a proper seal. Use the included disconnect clip with a SharkBite disconnect tong or equivalent tool when removing the fitting from the pipe.
