The RWC UC4006LFA is a SharkBite crimp-style transition fitting designed to connect 3/8 inch PEX tubing to 3/8 inch Polybutylene pipe. Constructed from lead-free DZR brass, this coupling meets NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF 372 low-lead certification requirements, making it suitable for potable water distribution systems. Two color-coordinated crimp rings are included: a black crimp ring for the PEX side and a copper-colored crimp ring for the Polybutylene side. This fitting is a cost-effective field solution for transition repairs and retrofit work on residential plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers and experienced plumbing technicians are the intended installers.
The UC4006LFA is used in residential potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications where PEX tubing meets existing Polybutylene pipe. This scenario is common in repair and remodel work on homes originally plumbed with Polybutylene systems. The fitting accommodates 3/8 inch pipe sizing on both sides and ships individually, making it appropriate for targeted repair situations rather than bulk new construction runs.
Designed for use with 3/8 inch PEX tubing and 3/8 inch Polybutylene pipe in potable water distribution and hydronic heating systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. A calibrated PEX crimp tool and go/no-go gauge are required to ensure a proper crimp on both the PEX and Polybutylene sides. Use the correct included crimp ring for each pipe type — do not interchange the black and copper-colored rings.
