The RWC UC118LFA is a SharkBite PEX barb threaded male adapter designed to transition between 3/8 inch copper fitting (CF) barb tubing and 1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT). Constructed from lead-free DZR brass, this fitting is built to handle potable water distribution and hydronic heating systems. It accepts either a stainless steel clamp system or a copper crimp ring system on the barb end, giving installers flexibility based on available tooling. The opposite end is male NPT threaded for direct connection to standard threaded fittings, valves, or ports. Plumbers and pipefitters working on residential or light commercial PEX installations will find this a straightforward, code-compliant solution.
The UC118LFA is suited for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications where a barb-to-male-thread transition is needed. It is commonly installed where PEX supply lines meet threaded valves, manifolds, or fixture connections. The barb end is sized at 3/8 inch CF, and the threaded end is 1/2 inch MPT, making it applicable in a range of residential plumbing rough-in and retrofit scenarios. Each fitting is sold individually, with clamp rings and crimp rings available separately.
Designed for use with PEX tubing systems using either a stainless steel clamp or copper crimp ring connection method, suitable for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications where a 3/8 inch CF barb to 1/2 inch MPT transition is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Use the appropriate PEX clamp or crimp tool rated for the fitting size — do not attempt to seat rings by hand or with improvised tools. Verify that the threaded MPT connection is properly sealed with thread sealant tape or compound rated for potable water service.
