The RWC UC072LFA10 is a SharkBite PEX barb threaded female adapter designed to connect PEX tubing to female iron pipe (FIP) threaded fittings in potable water distribution and hydronic heating systems. Constructed from lead-free DZR brass, this adapter offers corrosion resistance suited to both hot and cold water service. The barb end accepts either a stainless steel clamp ring system or a copper crimp ring system, giving installers flexibility in connection method. Plumbers and pipefitters working on residential or light commercial PEX installations will find this a straightforward, low-cost transition fitting between barb and threaded connections.
This adapter is suited for residential potable water distribution systems and hydronic heating applications where PEX tubing terminates at a threaded female connection point. The 1/2 inch barb end connects directly to 1/2 inch PEX tubing using a clamp or crimp tool, while the 1/2 inch FNPT end threads onto standard pipe fittings, valves, or equipment ports. It is a practical choice wherever a direct barb-to-female-thread transition is needed without additional union fittings.
Compatible with 1/2 inch PEX tubing using a stainless steel clamp ring system or a copper crimp ring system (each sold separately). Approved for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications per ASTM F1807, NSF/ANSI 61, and NSF 372.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Use the appropriate PEX clamp or crimp tool rated for the ring system being used — do not substitute tools between clamp and crimp systems. Verify that all threaded connections are sealed with appropriate thread sealant or tape per the fitting manufacturer's guidelines.
