The RWC U714A is a plastic disconnect clip designed for use with SharkBite push-to-connect fittings. This clip releases the grip ring inside a SharkBite fitting, allowing the fitting to be disconnected from the pipe without damaging the fitting or the pipe. It is a standard service tool for plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial plumbing systems that use push-to-connect technology. The U714A is sold individually and is sized for 1-inch SharkBite fittings.
This clip is used whenever a SharkBite push-to-connect fitting needs to be removed from copper, CPVC, or PEX pipe during installation, repair, or system modification. It is appropriate for new construction rough-in, retrofit work, and service calls where a fitting must be repositioned or replaced. The clip is a single-use or reusable hand tool depending on condition after removal.
Designed for use with 1-inch SharkBite push-to-connect fittings as an OEM-style disconnect tool.
Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before attempting to disconnect any push-to-connect fitting. Slide the disconnect clip around the pipe and into the fitting collar, then apply steady outward pressure on the pipe to release. No special tools or trade license are required for the clip itself, though plumbing work must comply with applicable local codes.
