The RWC U4016LFA is a SharkBite push-to-connect polybutylene conversion coupling designed to transition existing polybutylene pipe systems to PEX, copper, CPVC, or PE-RT piping. Sized at 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch, this fitting installs without soldering, crimping, or gluing — simply push onto the pipe until it seats. It is rated to 200 psi and 200 degrees F, making it suitable for both potable water and hydronic heating water distribution systems. Color-coordinated collars distinguish each end: gray for polybutylene and tan for PEX, copper, CPVC, and PE-RT. Plumbers and pipefitters reach for this fitting when repairing or replacing aging polybutylene lines.
This coupling is approved for use behind walls without access panels and underground when wrapped per burial installation requirements. It is well suited to residential and light commercial repair work where polybutylene supply lines are still in service. The push-to-connect design allows installation on wet or dry pipe, which speeds up repairs and minimizes system downtime. Integral tube liners on both the polybutylene and PEX ends eliminate loose connections and maintain consistent flow geometry through the transition.
Compatible with polybutylene pipe on the gray-collar end and PEX (cross-linked polyethylene), copper, CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), and PE-RT pipe on the tan-collar end. Suitable for potable water and hydronic heating water distribution systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Ensure pipe ends are cut cleanly and squarely and deburred before insertion. For underground burial installations, wrap the fitting per applicable code requirements before backfilling.
