The RWC 24998A is a washing machine shutoff valve designed for hot water inlet connections in residential and light commercial plumbing installations. It features a 1/2 inch PEX barb inlet and a 3/4 inch MNPT (Male National Pipe Thread) outlet, with a red handle to indicate hot water service. The valve body is constructed from DZR (dezincification resistant) brass, providing long-term corrosion resistance in potable water systems. The PEX barb connection requires a compatible crimp or clamp ring and eliminates the need for soldering at the valve inlet. NSF-certified for use in drinking water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically handle this installation in new construction and retrofit laundry supply lines.
This valve is suited for connecting 1/2 inch PEX tubing to a standard 3/4 inch MNPT washing machine outlet box or wall stub-out. It is commonly installed in residential laundry rooms, utility spaces, and multifamily construction where PEX water distribution systems are used. The red handle provides a clear visual indicator for hot water service, making it straightforward to differentiate supply lines during rough-in and service calls. The barb-style PEX connection is well suited for applications where lower material cost is a priority over push-to-connect fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation valve for residential and light commercial PEX water distribution systems terminating at standard 3/4 inch MNPT washing machine outlet boxes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off the main water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Use a PEX crimp or clamp tool rated for 1/2 inch connections to secure the barb fitting; do not use the barb connection without a properly seated ring. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the MNPT threads before making up the outlet connection.
