The RUUD U802VA100521ZSB is a downflow natural gas furnace rated at 100,000 BTU/h input with 80% AFUE efficiency. It uses a two-stage gas valve paired with an ECM variable-speed blower motor to deliver consistent heat output while reducing energy consumption. Airflow is adjustable from 1,200 to 2,000 CFM, making it suitable for a range of duct systems. The unit runs on 115 VAC, 60 Hz, single-phase power and accepts both natural gas and liquid propane. A zero-clearance downflow cabinet design allows installation in tight mechanical spaces. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this furnace.
This furnace is designed for downflow residential applications where the air handler is positioned above the living space and supply air is delivered downward. The two-stage operation reduces short-cycling and improves humidity control during mild weather. The ECM motor contributes to lower operating amp draw compared to PSC motors. At 5 nominal tons of airflow capacity, this unit is sized for larger residential or light-commercial heating systems. It is compatible with R-22 and R-410A air conditioning and heat pump systems when paired with a matching coil, and includes piston options with externally accessible bodies for TXV installation.
Compatible with R-22 and R-410A air conditioning and heat pump systems. Piston options include an externally accessible body for easy piston change-out and TXV installation. Designed as an OEM downflow gas furnace for residential heating applications requiring a 100,000 BTU/h, 80% AFUE, two-stage, variable-speed unit.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or replacing any components. Verify gas supply pressure, flue venting configuration, and duct static pressure are within the equipment design range before startup. Do not alter factory wiring or gas train components outside of approved field configurations.
