The RUUD RCFY4821STAAMC is a cased multi-position A-coil evaporator designed for residential and light commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump applications. Rated at 3.5 to 4 nominal tons (48,000 BTU/h), this coil is factory-equipped with a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) and is charged for use with R454B refrigerant, a low-GWP A2L refrigerant increasingly specified in new installations. The cased enclosure allows for clean, straightforward installation in unconditioned spaces such as attics, mechanical closets, and utility rooms. HVAC technicians install this coil as the indoor heat-exchange component paired with a compatible outdoor condensing unit.
This coil is suited for residential forced-air systems where a multi-position configuration is required. The multi-position design supports upflow, downflow, and horizontal installations, making it adaptable to a range of equipment room layouts and ductwork configurations. At 21 inches wide, it fits common air handler and furnace cabinets sized for 3.5 to 4 ton capacity. R454B is classified as an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant; follow all applicable local codes and manufacturer guidelines regarding ventilation, ignition source control, and leak detection during service.
