The RUUD R951T0403A17M4SNAS is a multi-position, single-stage residential gas furnace rated at 40,000 BTU/h input and 95% AFUE. It runs on natural gas and uses a constant-torque ECM blower motor, which reduces electrical draw compared to standard PSC motors while maintaining consistent airflow across varying static pressure conditions. The furnace features a direct spark ignition system for reliable cold-start performance and a 7-segment LED diagnostic display that allows technicians to read fault codes without a separate tool. The drain block sensor automatically shuts the unit down and triggers a diagnostic code when condensate flow is restricted, reducing the risk of water damage during unattended operation. Licensed HVAC contractors install and commission this unit.
This furnace is suited for residential forced-air heating applications where multi-position installation is required. The multi-position cabinet allows upflow, downflow, or horizontal left and right configurations, giving installers flexibility in tight mechanical rooms, attics, crawlspaces, and closet installs. At 17 inches wide, it fits in space-constrained locations where larger cabinets cannot. The unit nominally supports up to 3 tons of matched cooling equipment in an air-handler configuration when paired with a compatible coil and outdoor condensing unit. It carries ENERGY STAR certification at 95% AFUE across the model line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation furnace within the RUUD Endeavor Line Achiever Series R951T product family. Nominal cooling capacity support is 3 tons when matched with a compatible coil and condensing unit.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC contractor in accordance with the National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54), local mechanical codes, and the manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or replacing any components. As a 95% AFUE condensing furnace, this unit requires a dedicated PVC or CPVC flue vent system and a condensate drain routed to an approved drain point. Do not connect this appliance to a B-vent or single-wall metal flue.
