The RUUD PD619072 is a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) kit designed as a direct OEM replacement for specific RUUD air handler units operating on R-410A refrigerant. The TXV meters refrigerant flow into the evaporator coil, maintaining the correct superheat level to maximize system efficiency and protect the compressor from liquid slugging. This kit is sized for 5-ton residential air handler applications and is installed by licensed HVAC technicians during system retrofits, refrigerant conversions, or valve failure repairs. At 1.19 pounds and compact dimensions of 5.6 inches by 4.8 inches by 3.8 inches, the kit fits within standard air handler cabinet clearances.
This TXV kit is rated for use with R-410A refrigerant in 5-ton air handler systems manufactured after 2014. It is intended for residential forced-air cooling applications where precise refrigerant metering is critical to maintaining proper system superheat and EER. The kit is specific to RUUD RCF-6024 series air handlers and is a direct factory-style replacement for units that have exhibited valve failure, refrigerant starvation, or hunting symptoms.
Designed for use with the following RUUD air handler models: RCF-6024HTAMCA, RCF-6024HTAVUA, RCF-6024STAMCA, and RCF-6024STAVUA. Compatible units must be manufactured after 2014. Verify model number and manufacture date on the unit data plate before ordering.
TXV replacement is performed by licensed HVAC technicians using EPA Section 608 certification. The refrigerant circuit must be fully recovered and the system de-energized before removing the existing valve. Brazing or flare connections may be required depending on the valve fitting type — follow applicable mechanical codes and the manufacturer instructions included with the kit. After installation, recharge the system to the nameplate specification and verify superheat at the suction line before returning the unit to service.
