The RUUD 62-24141-05 is a direct spark igniter (DSI) designed for residential gas furnace applications. It uses a Kanthal resistance element to generate the spark arc that lights the burner on each call for heat. The igniter features a 40-inch wire lead and a 1/8-inch spark gap, both of which are factory-set to deliver consistent ignition performance. This part is installed by licensed HVAC technicians during routine igniter replacement or as part of a no-heat diagnostic repair. Kanthal construction provides stable ignition across a wide range of operating temperatures.
This igniter is used in high-efficiency residential gas furnaces across several RUUD product families, including 92-percent and 95-percent AFUE single-stage and two-stage units. It is suited for both upflow and horizontal installations common in residential forced-air heating systems. The 40-inch lead length provides routing flexibility in tight furnace cabinets. Compatible model families include R92PA, R92TA, R95PA, R95TA, R95TB, R95TC, R96PA, R96TA, R96VA, R97V-USA, R97V-KSA, and R98V-USA gas furnaces.
Designed as a direct OEM replacement for use on RUUD R92PA, R92TA, R95PA, R95TA, R95TB, R95TC, R96PA, R96TA, R96VA, R97V-USA, R97V-KSA, and R98V-USA gas furnaces.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Before servicing the igniter, shut off electrical power to the furnace at the disconnect or breaker and turn off the gas supply at the manual shutoff valve. Verify proper spark gap clearance after mounting and before restoring power. Work performed on gas appliances must comply with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and all applicable local codes.
