The RUUD 62-24141-04 is a direct spark ignition (DSI) igniter designed for use in RUUD gas furnaces. The igniter uses a Kanthal element to generate the spark that lights the burner during each heating cycle. With a 1/8 inch spark gap and a 40 inch lead wire, this component meets the dimensional and electrical requirements of the furnace models it serves. It measures 5.4 inches in length, 3.15 inches in width, and 2.0 inches in height, and weighs 0.18 pounds. Licensed HVAC technicians typically handle replacement during routine maintenance or no-heat service calls.
This igniter is a direct replacement part intended for residential gas furnace applications. It fits a wide range of RUUD furnace model families, making it a commonly stocked component for HVAC service fleets that maintain RUUD equipment. The part is suited for upflow, downflow, and horizontal gas furnace configurations where direct spark ignition is used in place of a hot surface igniter or standing pilot system.
Designed for use on RUUD gas furnace model families: RGFD, RGRA, RGRB, RGRC, RGRJ, RGRK, RGRL, RGRM, RGTA, RGTC, RGFE, RGRS, RGRT, RGTS, 90RS, 90RT, and 90TS.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local codes and the furnace manufacturer service instructions. Shut off electrical power and close the manual gas shutoff valve before removing the existing igniter. Avoid touching the Kanthal element with bare hands, as skin oils can degrade the element and reduce service life. Confirm the spark gap is set to 1/8 inch after installation before restoring power and gas.
