The RUUD 60-101921-05 is a two-stage natural gas valve designed for high-efficiency residential gas furnaces equipped with hot surface ignition (HSI) or direct spark ignition (DSI) systems. Rated at 140,000 BTU/h, this valve controls gas flow through both a slow-open and full-open stage, allowing the furnace to operate at lower capacity during mild conditions and ramp to full output on demand. It is a direct OEM replacement part installed by licensed HVAC technicians servicing R96PA, R96TA, and R96VA series gas furnaces. The valve measures approximately 4.75 inches in height and fits the standard inlet configuration for these units.
This gas valve is used on RUUD R96PA, R96TA, and R96VA series 96 percent AFUE gas furnaces in residential applications. It is suited for upflow and horizontal configurations where two-stage operation is required to match the variable heat output of the furnace. The HSI and DSI compatibility makes this valve appropriate for both ignition types used across those furnace platforms. Typically installed during a valve failure, gas pressure fault diagnosis, or furnace combustion system overhaul by a qualified HVAC technician.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for RUUD R96PA, R96TA, and R96VA series gas furnaces. Verify ignition type, gas type, and BTU/h rating against the existing valve and furnace nameplate before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power to the furnace before removing the existing valve. Inspect all gas connections for leaks using an approved leak-detection solution after installation and before restoring power. Do not attempt to adjust internal valve components or bypass the two-stage control mechanism.
