The RUUD 42-101955-02 is a gas furnace pressure switch assembly rated at -0.40 inches water column (WC), configured as a single-pole single-throw (SPST) device with a single port inlet. Pressure switches monitor negative pressure created by the inducer motor during furnace operation. If the inducer fails to develop the correct draft, the switch remains open and prevents ignition, protecting the heat exchanger and venting system from unsafe operation. This assembly is installed by licensed HVAC technicians as part of routine furnace repair or scheduled preventive maintenance.
This pressure switch assembly is designed for use in RUUD gas furnace applications. It is specifically called out for RGRC, RGRS, and RGRT series gas furnace models. These are residential gas furnaces where induced-draft combustion control is a code-required safety function. Replacement is typically indicated when a furnace locks out on a pressure switch fault code, when the switch fails an open-circuit continuity test, or when the rubber hose and port connections show deterioration that cannot be corrected by hose replacement alone.
Designed for use with RUUD RGRC, RGRS, and RGRT series gas furnaces as an OEM-style replacement pressure switch assembly.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the furnace manufacturer's service documentation and applicable local mechanical codes. Disconnect power to the furnace and shut off the gas supply before beginning any service work. Inspect the pressure switch hose, port fittings, and condensate drain for blockages before condemning the switch, as a restricted hose is a common root cause of pressure switch faults. Restore power and verify proper furnace operation and draft performance after installation.
