The RUSTOLEUM 9101402 is a standard epoxy mastic activator designed for use with the 9100 System two-part epoxy mastic coating. This activator is the hardener component that initiates the curing reaction when combined with the base coat, producing a durable, chemically resistant film suitable for metal and industrial surfaces. It ships in a 1-gallon can in liquid form and delivers a metallic gray finish with a coverage rate of 125 to 225 square inches per gallon depending on surface profile and application method. Industrial painters, maintenance coatings contractors, and facilities maintenance crews working on steel and metal substrates are the primary installers of this product.
This activator is formulated for use in industrial and commercial maintenance coating applications where steel and metal surfaces require long-term corrosion protection. Typical environments include manufacturing facilities, process piping, structural steel, tanks, and heavy equipment. Application temperatures range from 50 to 100 degrees F. VOC content is less than 340 g/L, which supports compliance with many regional air quality regulations. The slight amine odor is characteristic of epoxy activator chemistry and requires adequate ventilation during mixing and application.
Designed for use as the activator component within the RUSTOLEUM 9100 System epoxy mastic coating series. Must be paired with the corresponding 9100 System base component per the manufacturer mixing instructions.
This product must be mixed with the correct 9100 System base component at the specified mix ratio before application — do not apply the activator alone. Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area due to solvent and amine vapors. Follow all applicable local and federal safety regulations for handling epoxy coatings, including use of appropriate respirator, gloves, and eye protection. Surface preparation to the specified profile is critical to coating adhesion and service life.
