The RUST-OLEUM HS9381407 is a flat gray, high-solids primer formulated for use in the Rust-Oleum 9300 System. It is designed to provide a strong bonding foundation and corrosion-resistant base coat on metal substrates, structural steel, tanks, and heavy equipment. Weighing 12.07 pounds per gallon unit, this primer is built for industrial and commercial applications where surface prep and long-term adhesion matter. It pairs with compatible Rust-Oleum high-performance topcoats to deliver a complete protective coating system. Licensed professionals in industrial maintenance, structural steel fabrication, and marine or coastal environments are the primary installers.
This primer is suited for use on vehicles, structural steel, tanks, and equipment exposed to severe coastal, offshore, or chemically aggressive environments. It is intended as part of a two-component system and is recommended for use with the Rust-Oleum 9400 System High Gloss Polyester Urethane topcoat, which must be ordered separately along with its activator. This product is available in gallon and five-gallon sizes and meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact, making it accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities.
Designed for use with the Rust-Oleum 9400 System High Gloss Polyester Urethane topcoat as part of a two-component coating system. Base color and activator must be ordered separately.
Surface preparation is critical before applying this primer — remove all rust, mill scale, oil, and contaminants per the coating manufacturer's guidelines. Industrial painters and coating applicators should power down or de-energize any adjacent electrical systems before surface blasting or spray application in enclosed spaces. Follow applicable OSHA and local VOC regulations for spray application and personal protective equipment. Do not apply over incompatible primers or topcoats without verifying system compatibility.
