The RUST-OLEUM 9108421 is a two-component, direct-to-metal (DTM) epoxy mastic coating designed for high-performance corrosion protection on metal and concrete substrates. This 1-gallon base unit delivers a tough, durable finish in a gloss sheen and is formulated to match the protection of multiple coats of standard epoxy in a single application. The 1:1 mixing ratio eliminates field measuring. It carries a two-year rust-proof guarantee and meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact. It is also accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food processing facilities. VOC content is below 340 grams per liter.
This coating is suited for industrial and commercial environments where chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and impact resistance are required. Typical applications include structural steel, concrete floors, and other surfaces exposed to solvents or corrosive conditions. Multiple activator options allow the same base product to be used across a wide range of temperature conditions and immersion environments. A standard activator covers air and surface temps of 50 to 100 degrees F. A low-temperature activator extends use down to 40 degrees F. A fast-cure activator allows recoat in as little as 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity. An immersion activator supports fresh or salt water immersion on steel or concrete where water temperatures do not exceed 125 degrees F.
Designed for use as a direct-to-metal coating on steel, concrete, and similar substrates in industrial and commercial applications. This is the base component of the RUST-OLEUM 9100 System; an activator must be ordered and mixed separately before application.
Application should be performed by qualified industrial coating contractors or maintenance professionals familiar with two-component epoxy systems. Power down or de-energize any adjacent electrical equipment before surface preparation and coating work begins. Follow all local ventilation requirements and wear appropriate respiratory protection during mixing and application. Do not apply the immersion activator version in potable water tanks.
