The RUST-OLEUM 9108381 is a two-component, direct-to-metal (DTM) epoxy mastic coating supplied in a 5-gallon container. It is a self-priming formula that bonds to bare metal, previously coated surfaces, concrete, and a variety of other substrates without a separate primer coat. The coating delivers superior long-term resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact, making it a dependable choice for industrial and commercial protective coating applications. It mixes at a convenient 1:1 ratio, eliminating the need for measuring equipment on the job. The system is available with multiple activator options to suit different temperature conditions and application environments.
This epoxy mastic is used in industrial, commercial, and institutional maintenance painting where a single high-build coat needs to replace multiple coats of standard epoxy. Typical applications include structural steel, equipment, tanks, concrete floors, and secondary containment surfaces. The formula meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities, making it appropriate for food processing and food storage environments. Multiple activator options extend usability across a wide range of conditions: a Standard Activator for air and surface temperatures of 50 to 100 degrees F, a Low-Temperature Activator for 40 to 60 degrees F, a Fast-Cure Activator that allows recoat in 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity, and an Immersion Activator for fresh or saltwater immersion of steel or concrete where water temperatures do not exceed 125 degrees F.
Designed for direct application to bare metal, previously coated surfaces, and concrete substrates in industrial, commercial, and institutional maintenance painting applications. Base color and activator are ordered separately; activator selection depends on application temperature range and exposure conditions. The Immersion Activator is not for use in potable water tanks.
Application of two-component epoxy coatings should be performed by a qualified industrial painter or coating contractor familiar with surface preparation standards and two-component mixing procedures. Surface preparation is critical — ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, rust scale, and loose existing coatings before application. Mix only as much material as can be applied within the product pot life, and do not apply below the minimum temperature range of the selected activator. Follow local regulations and site safety protocols regarding ventilation and personal protective equipment when working with solvent-containing coatings.
