The RUST-OLEUM 9106405 is a two-component, direct-to-metal (DTM) epoxy mastic coating formulated for high-performance corrosion protection in demanding industrial and commercial environments. This 1-gallon unit covers in a single coat what typically requires multiple coats of standard epoxy, reducing labor time and material costs. The 9106405 mixes at a 1:1 ratio with a separately purchased activator, eliminating the need for measuring equipment on the job. It cures to a tough, gloss yellow finish with superior resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact. Meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities. VOC content is below 340.
This coating is suited for metal, concrete, and a variety of other substrates in both residential and commercial settings. Typical applications include structural steel, machinery, floors, and equipment that require long-term corrosion defense. Four activator options are available for specific conditions: a Standard Activator for air and surface temps of 50 to 100 degrees F, an Immersion Activator for fresh or salt water immersion of steel or concrete where water temps do not exceed 125 degrees F, a Low-Temperature Activator for air and surface temps of 40 to 60 degrees F, and a Fast-Cure Activator that allows recoat in 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity. Activators are sold separately. Not for use in potable water tanks when the Immersion Activator is selected.
Designed for use as a DTM epoxy mastic topcoat or single-coat system on metal and concrete substrates; requires a separately purchased RUST-OLEUM 9100 System activator matched to the specific application and temperature conditions.
Application should be performed by a qualified coatings professional or industrial painter familiar with two-component epoxy systems. Surface must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, and loose material before application. Power down or de-energize any equipment being coated and allow it to reach ambient temperature. Always mix the base and activator thoroughly per the product instructions before applying, and observe the pot life limits for the selected activator.
