The RUST-OLEUM 9103402 is the activator component for the 9100 System DTM Epoxy Mastic, a two-component, direct-to-metal coating engineered for heavy-duty corrosion protection. This 1-gallon activator mixes at a 1:1 ratio with the corresponding base coat, eliminating the need for precise volumetric measuring. The cured finish delivers superior long-term resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact. The formula meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities. VOC content is below 340 grams per liter. Licensed coating applicators and industrial maintenance painters are the primary installers.
The 9100 System activator is suited for industrial and commercial maintenance painting on steel, concrete, and a variety of other substrates. The standard activator handles air and surface temperatures of 50 to 100 degrees F. The low-temperature activator extends application down to 40 degrees F. The fast-cure activator allows recoat in 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity, reducing downtime on active job sites. The immersion activator is formulated for fresh or saltwater immersion of steel or concrete where water temperatures do not exceed 125 degrees F and is well suited for floor-coating applications. Note: the immersion activator is not approved for potable water tanks.
Designed for use as the activator component of the RUST-OLEUM 9100 System DTM Epoxy Mastic two-component coating system; must be paired with the corresponding 9100 System base coat.
Application of two-component epoxy coatings should be performed by qualified industrial coating applicators familiar with surface preparation standards and pot-life limitations. Thoroughly prepare the substrate per the system data sheet before mixing components; contaminated or improperly prepared surfaces will reduce adhesion and corrosion resistance. Once the activator and base are combined, apply within the stated pot life — do not add solvent to extend working time beyond manufacturer guidance. Follow all local regulations and ventilation requirements when working with solvent-borne coatings in confined or enclosed spaces.
