The RUST-OLEUM 9031 is a gallon-sized, gloss-finish, oil-based premium polyurethane formulated to beautify and protect all types of interior wood surfaces. This fast-dry formula penetrates and seals bare or stained wood, forming a hard, clear protective layer that resists scuffs, scratches, and moisture. It is intended for interior use only and applies cleanly over furniture, cabinets, trim, floors, and decorative woodwork. Finishing carpenters, cabinet installers, flooring contractors, and experienced DIYers are the primary installers. The formula ships as a single unit of measure per package and weighs 17 pounds.
This polyurethane finish is suited for interior residential and light commercial wood finishing applications. It is appropriate for use on hardwood floors, wood furniture, cabinetry, shelving, paneling, and millwork where a clear, high-gloss protective topcoat is required. Note that this specific formulation is not available for sale in VOC-restricted regions. Buyers in OTC and CARB-regulated areas, as well as LADCO members, should reference alternate part TV 516-344. South Coast Air Quality Management District buyers should reference alternate part TV 776-417.
Designed for use on all types of interior wood surfaces including bare wood, stained wood, and previously finished wood in good condition. Not intended for exterior applications. VOC-restricted area buyers should use alternate SKUs TV 516-344 (OTC/CARB/LADCO) or TV 776-417 (South Coast).
Application should be performed by finishing carpenters, flooring contractors, or qualified trades in well-ventilated interior spaces. Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and sanded before application. Keep ignition sources away from the work area during application and drying, as oil-based coatings are flammable. Allow adequate dry time between coats as directed on the product label before recoating or placing surfaces back in service.
