The RUST-OLEUM 330145 is a high-solids, oil-based alkyd primer formulated for interior and exterior use on surfaces where optimal surface preparation is not possible. This direct-to-metal (DTM) coating delivers excellent penetration, flexibility, and stain-blocking performance in a metal red, flat finish. It is engineered for professional applicators working on surfaces that cannot be sanded or de-glossed before coating. The 5-gallon container weighs 55 pounds and is sized for commercial and large-scale jobsite use. Recoat time is under 2 hours, reducing project downtime on active job sites.
This primer is suited for a wide range of interior and exterior applications including industrial maintenance, commercial facilities, and residential projects where surface conditions are less than ideal. It bonds to dense, glossy surfaces such as enamel paints, varnishes, paneling, laminates, and ceramic tile without requiring mechanical abrasion or chemical de-glossing. It functions as a standalone DTM primer on metal substrates and as a universal primer on masonry, wood, and previously coated surfaces. Painters, maintenance coaters, and industrial contractors are the primary installers of this product.
Designed as an oil-based alkyd primer compatible with a broad range of topcoats applied over properly primed metal, wood, masonry, and previously coated surfaces in interior and exterior environments.
Application should be performed by a qualified painter or industrial coating contractor in accordance with local VOC regulations and safety requirements. Ensure adequate ventilation when applying indoors, and consult the product safety data sheet before use. Do not apply over surfaces with active moisture or loose, failing coatings. Paint thinner is required for tool and equipment cleanup.
