The RUST-OLEUM 323814 is a 340 VOC direct-to-metal (DTM) alkyd enamel designed for corrosion protection on bare and previously coated metal surfaces. This coating applies directly to metal without a primer, though pairing it with a V7400 System primer delivers maximum performance. The satin finish in a light tint base provides color uniformity and surface protection against rust, chipping, fading, and weathering. It dries tack-free in 2 to 4 hours and is suited for moderate to slightly severe industrial environments. Licensed professionals and industrial maintenance painters work with this product in facilities where corrosion control and regulatory compliance are required.
This enamel is formulated for use on structural steel, equipment housings, piping, fabricated metal, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates common in industrial and commercial facilities. The light tint base allows tinting to a wide range of finish colors. The 1-gallon container is appropriate for targeted maintenance work and touch-up applications. It meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food processing facilities, making it a viable option for food and beverage plant maintenance crews.
Designed for use as part of the Rust-Oleum V7400 System on bare metal and previously coated metal surfaces in moderate to slightly severe industrial environments. For best results, apply over a V7400 System primer.
Surface preparation is critical before application — remove loose rust, mill scale, grease, and contaminants per standard SSPC surface prep guidelines. Power down and de-energize any electrical equipment in the immediate work area before applying solvent-based coatings in enclosed spaces. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing. Industrial painters should follow local and federal VOC compliance requirements for the jurisdiction where the product is being applied.
